Are you familiar with risk management, Worksafe BC requirements and hazard recognition? * Each year the Park Operations Manager is responsible for scheduling and completing a variety of park improvement projects in the parks. This could be things like trail, campsite and toilet upgrades or long sections of boardwalk replacement. Have you lead small scale construction projects in the past? * Please describe your experience leading small scale construction projects. Do you have project management experience? * Tell us about a few responsibilities you had when managing a project. Do you have your Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate or higher? * Can you carry a 30lb backpack on a multi-day beach hike through some of the most beautiful beaches on the pacific ocean? What about through the mountains on your way to a turquoise sub alpine lake? Can you do this while surveying and taking notes about trail conditions? * In Cape Scott Park it rains. A lot. In Strathcona Park it snows. Sometimes up to 5 meters.Then the sun shines and it gets really hot (making lake dips a necessity of the job). Then the bugs come out. Then you have to pick up a bag of dog poo someone conveniently left on the side of the trail and carry it 10k back to your truck. Are you willing and able to work outdoors during all seasons, in all conditions, with a big smile on your face? * While working on the ground in the parks you will often be out in remote, wilderness environments for multiple days at time. Imagine a tent on a big sandy beach on the North Island or at a subalpine lake in Strathcona. Instead of a tent, it could be a cabin on the beach or at the lake. Some locations will have data and Internet access while others will not. Some will have running water and electricity, while others will not. Do you have experience living and working in a remote camp environments? * Do you have experience operating boats? * If yes, please describe your experience operating boats.
